Mission Statement
The Academy aims to enhance the healthcare of Palestinians through education and training
Structure:
- The Academy is part of PalMed UK a registered charity with the Charity commission and the educational arm of PalMed Europe
- The Academy will be led by an appointed Chair by PalMed UK Trustees who will direct the day to day running of the organisation. The tenure of the Chair is not restricted but can be terminated with 3 months’ notice by PalMed UK Trustees or the Chair.
- The Chair will be supported by an Executive Committee of the Academy with members opted in as required for the activities of the Academy. These members can be from PalMed UK, PalMed Europe or non members
- Any suggested members of the executive committee should have a proven track record of participating in the academy’s activities over the previous two years.
- Opted members of the Executive have to be voted on by existing members with a simple majority required prior to inclusion.
- The Academy can collaborate with individuals to represent the full spectrum of health specialties and help set up and supervise its educational activities.
- The Academy will have an independent educational plans for undergraduate and postgraduate healthcare students and support them to gain internationally recommended diplomas and specialist qualifications, and will make arrangements with educational establishments as appropriate.
- The president of the PalMed Europe and President of PalMed UK will automatically be members of the executive committee of the Academy.
- The Chair of PalMed Academy will represent the Academy on the Executive committee of PalMed Europe and PalMed UK
Governance:
- The Academy is registered as a non-profit organisation with Companies House in the United Kingdom to ensure that its aims, structure, and finances are fully within the regulations that govern similar organisations.
- The Academy will implement the full measurements necessary to ensure its activities are recognizable by educational and professional bodies and institutions, that they are fit for purpose, and help its candidates further their education in the best possible fashion.
- The Academy will ensure that its activities meet with statutory laws of all the countries in which it operates.
- The Executive Committee will meet periodically to plan and execute its duties. Meetings with the advisers and other organisations are to be arranged whenever needed.
- There will be one Annual General Meeting to include all stakeholders to discuss all the business of The Academy.
- The Executive Committee will have the authority to seek professional advice from third parties as they see fit.
- The Academy is financial independent with the ability to raise funds and execute plans and fund projects as decided by the Acemy’s Executive Committee.
Educational Modules:
- The educational modules and courses to be offered will depend on the needs of the communities and candidates, as well as the facilities available and deliverable by The Academy.
- The Executive Committee of The Academy will set up the educational modules well in advance before offering them to the candidates.
- The cost of attending the educational modules will be designed keeping in mind the financial capabilities of the candidates.
