PalMed Academy Secures Clinical Placements for 57 Al-Azhar Medical Students in Malaysia

On Thursday, 20th February, a highly productive meeting was held between PalMed Academy, the Federation of Islamic Medical Associations (FIMA), and the Deans of Medical Schools in Malaysia. The purpose of the meeting was to finalize the arrangements for clinical placements of Al-Azhar University medical students who have been displaced and are currently studying in Egypt.

As a result of this collaboration, six medical schools in Malaysia have agreed to host 57 fourth-year students from Al-Azhar University. These students, who have successfully completed their third year with the support of the *GEM Initiative*, will now have the opportunity to continue their education and gain essential clinical experience in Malaysia.

It is anticipated that the students will travel to Malaysia at the beginning of April, shortly after Eid, to begin their placements. This initiative has been made possible through the efforts of *Professor AbdulRashid, President of FIMA*, who has secured funding for the students’ travel and living expenses.

The meeting on 20th February brought together the Deans of all participating Malaysian medical schools and representatives from Al-Azhar University Medical School to ensure a smooth transition for the students. This marks a significant step in supporting displaced medical students and ensuring they receive the training necessary to continue their medical education.
